Second deadline 2017 of Europe for Citizens calls published

The European Commission has announced that the second call of 2017 is open for the calls Town Twinning and Network of towns in the Europe for Citizens programme. Deadline of submission is September 1, 2017. The calls are published under strand 2: Democratic engagement and civic participation. The programme aims to fund initiatives to strengthen remembrance and to enhance civic participation at EU level.

For Town Twinning, funding for a project is up to € 25,000. The maximum project duration is 21 days. Funding for Network of Towns is up to € 150,000 per project. The maximum project duration is 24 months. 

The aim of the Europe for Citizens 2014-2020 programme is:

• to contribute to citizens' understanding of the EU, its history and diversity;
• to foster European citizenship and to improve conditions for civic and democratic participation at EU level;
• to raise awareness of remembrance, common history and values;
• to encourage democratic participation of citizens at EU level, by developing citizens' understanding of the EU policy making-process and by promoting opportunities for societal and intercultural engagement and volunteering at EU level.
