NWO opens Solar to Products

NWO invites applications for its call for proposals Solar to Product. Deadline of submissions is January 26, 2016. With this call, NWO wants to promote public-private partnership on scientifically innovative subjects in the area of converting solar energy. The total budget available for grants is € 5,225,000. Funding is up to € 900,000. Applications must be submitted by an academic researcher on behalf of a consortium of companies (including SME’s) and researchers. 
 
The programme Solar to Products aims to look for innovative solutions that contribute to the direct or indirect storage of solar energy by converting carbon dioxide and water in chemical bonds. From the global perspective the ultimate target of this programme is a transformation from an economy based predominantly on energy and materials derived from fossil resources, via a bio-based economy in which fossil resources are gradually replaced by resources of recent biological origin, to an economy driven by mainly solar energy in which material cycles are closed (a circular economy).
