NWO cooperation with South Africa - 'Astronomy' and 'Enabling Technologies for Astronomy'
The division of Physical Sciences of NWO (EW) and the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa have established an exchange programme between the two countries: 'Astronomy' and 'Enabling Technologies for Astronomy'. Deadline for submitting proposals is December 15, 2015. The cooperation offers financial contributions for visits by Dutch researchers to South Africa and vice-versa, and for bilateral seminars.
The funding is for research in astronomy and enabling technologies for astronomy (including software and instrumentation). All other areas of research are excluded.
The NWO-NRF exchange programme provides for three modalities:
Individual Visits for a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of three months;
Joint Research seminars over a 3 day period;
Joint Research Projects to be run over a 2 or a 3 year period.
Proposals should be jointly submitted by a Dutch and a South African Principal Investigator (PI). Funding is up to R150,000 on South African side and € 15,000 on Dutch side. The budget cannot be used for personnel costs.
