New call published under third EU Health Programme
The European Commission has published a new call under the third Health Programme 2014-2020 (HP3). The topic is 'Support Member States under particular migratory pressure in their response to health related challenges'. Deadline of applications is November 12, 2015. The call with identifier HP-HA-2015 has a budget of € 4 million. The EU is currently facing a very high influx of refugees and other migrants. In response to this, project grants will be provided to countries participating in HP3.
Projects grants must be aiming to provide support to Member States/other countries participating in the 3rd Health Programme under particular migratory pressure and to non-governmental organisations working in those Member States to help address the health related issues of arriving migrants while preventing and addressing possible communicable diseases and cross-border health threats, in particular at the designated hotspots and in the areas of reception of refugees and other migrants.
Expected results are a re-enforced response capacity of the Member States under particular migratory pressure to provide the arriving refugees and migrants with initial health assessments and preventive measures, including for children and other vulnerable groups, and thus contributing to combating cross border health threats.
The third EU Health Programme 2014-2020 aims at encouraging innovation in healthcare, increasing the sustainability of health systems, improving the health of EU citizens and protecting them from cross-border health threats. The programme builds on the two previous programmes covering the periods 2003-2008 and 2008-2013. Compared to the former programmes the new one concentrates support on a smaller number of activities in priority areas, in line with the Europe 2020 strategy. The programme has four overarching objectives which seek to:
Promote health, prevent diseases and foster supportive environments for healthy lifestyles taking into account the 'health in all policies' principle;
Protect Union citizens from serious cross-border health threats;
Contribute to innovative, efficient and sustainable health systems;
Facilitate access to better and safer healthcare for Union citizens.
