NWO EW awards seven projects in Mathematics of Planet Earth programme

The division of Physical Sciences (EW) of NWO has funded seven projects in the programme Mathematics of Planet Earth (MPE). Aim of MPE is to stimulate mathematical research that contributes to a better understanding of essential dynamics and uncertainty of earth systems. The total maximum available budget is € 1.5 million.

Researchers were able to submit applications for three themes, namely: 
• Identifying and exploring essential dynamics; 
• Methods for model reduction; 
• Model error and uncertainty quantification.
