NWO awards four projects in Graduate school horticulture and starting materials

The division of Earth and Life Sciences (ALW) of NWO has funded four projects in the second call with a grant from the programme Graduate school horticulture and starting materials. The programme aims to support innovative and high quality scientific research within the research area Horticulture and Starting Materials. The total budget for this round was € 925,000 and funding up to € 231,250.

The awarded projects are the following:
• NO problem: ethylene-induced regulation of nitric oxide confers flooding tolerance in plants -
Sjon Hartman (prof. dr. L. Voesenek), UU;
• Regulation of fungal effector gene expression during plant infection -
Martin Kramer (prof. dr. ir. B. Thomma), WUR;
• Moving from tip to base: How local far-red signalling regulates distant growth -
Jesse Küpers (prof. dr. R. Pierik), UU;
• Dealing with the weakest link: altered lateral root development during salt stress -
Iko Koevoets (dr. C.S. Testerink), UvA.
