Call GeoERA in April open for applications

More than 50 national and regional Geological Survey Organisations (GSOs) from 34 European countries have joined forces to develop the ERA-NET co-fund action Establishing the European Geological Surveys Research Area to deliver a Geological Service for Europe (GeoERA). April 4, 2017 the joint call will open. Deadline of submissions is June 7, 2017. The available budget is probably € 30.3 million, of which € 10 million is allocated by the EC.

The main objective of GeoERA is to contribute to the optimal use and management of the subsurface while minimizing environmental impacts and footprint for geo-energy, raw materials and groundwater challenges. GeoERA that will fund transnational research projects that will aim to support 1) a more integrated and efficient management and 2) more responsible and publicly accepted, exploitation and use of the subsurface.

The joint call is a two stage call to fund transnational research projects and will cover the applied geosciences, addressing the following four themes: Geo-Energy, Groundwater, Raw Materials and Information Platform.
