Alzheimer's Research UK funding opportunities 2019

The Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) invites applications for different grant schemes. Upcoming deadline for submitting proposals is March 20, 2019. ARUK is the UK’s leading dementia research charity specialising in finding preventions, causes, treatments and a cure for dementia. ARUK has a large number of different grant schemes through which researchers can apply for funding. Funding is between £ 30,000 and £ 1,000,000.

Researchers can apply for:

  • Pilot Project: up to £ 50,000. This can cover staff members, equipment, animals, running costs, or any combinations of these;
  • Extension: maximum of £ 100,000 for up to one year, can be applied for by current ARUK Major Project/Programme grant holders;
  • Target Validation Pathfinder Grant: up to one year. Funding is up to £ 50,000 for staff salaries, equipment, animals, running costs, or any combinations of these;
  • Network Support: the duration is one year. Funding is up to £ 30,000 to cover staff salaries, equipment, animals, running costs, or any combinations of these;
  • Equipment: provides funds for scientific equipment (flexibly defined). Funding is upwards of £ 10,000 to a maximum of £ 100,000;
  • Global Clinical Trials Fund: supports clinical trials that have potential to be of benefit to dementia patients. An upper limit of £ 1,000,000 is set for each application as the total Alzheimer's Research UK contribution. Applicants should be aware that they are competing for limited funds;
  • Scientific Conference grants: provide funding to underwrite the costs of a scientific conference. This scheme is not for individual travel grants. Conferences should aim to promote networking, collaborations, communication and dissemination of research results. Funding is up to £ 2,000.

Applications for Scientific Conference grants can be submitted all year round. Upcoming deadline for the grants Pilot Project and Extension is March 20, 2019, for the Target Validation Pathfinder Grant, Network Support and Equipment April 17, 2019 and for the Global Clinical Trials Fund May 8, 2019.
