2,990 new project proposals received in June for Horizon 2020 SME Instrument

The second cut-off date in 2015 for Horizon 2020 SME Instrument was June 17. EASME received in total 2,990 new proposals of which 2,029 for phase 1 and 961 for phase 2. The most popular topic with 823 proposals submitted is ICT, followed by nanotechnology, health, energy and eco-innovation with more than 300 proposals for each. The top 3 countries in terms of number of proposals submitted are Italy (570), Spain (467) and the United Kingdom (290). The number of proposals submitted from the Netherlands is 108. Since the beginning of 2015 a total of 5,173 proposals have been submitted, namely 3,598 for phase 1 and 1,575 for phase 2.


Detailed statistics for the June cut-off can be found here. Please note that these are preliminary data that could evolve. Eligibility checks have not been performed yet. Upcoming cut-off date is September 17, 2015. The last one and deadline is November 25, 2015.

The goal of the actions bundled under the specific objective Innovation in SMEs is to build SME innovation management capacity. Innovation management capacity is the internal ability of companies to manage innovation processes from the generation of the idea to its profitability on the market. Innovation in SMEs includes actions which provide indirect support to SMEs in the form of tailored services and projects (innovation management capacity building, IPR management, etc…), networking and mobilization actions for innovation service providers and policymakers (i.e. exchange of experience between national innovation agencies).
