Partnership STW-KWF Technology for Oncology

Technology Foundation STW and the Dutch Cancer Society (KWF Kankerbestrijding) found each other as a partner in technology research for oncology. Together they invite academic scientists to submit proposals for research projects that may give answers to the scientific and technological challenges in their Partnership programme plan. Deadline for registration is December 14, 2015. The overall budget for the call is € 2.59 million.

Oncology research in the Netherlands is among the top of the world in terms of scientific output and ratings. In addition, The Netherlands is famous for innovative, technological developments. The purpose of this call is to initiate new collaborations in the oncology domain between leading (medical) scientists and excellent technical researchers, thereby exploiting the upper class science with the innovative power of the Dutch Technical Universities. STW and KWF believe there is high potential to achieve significant breakthroughs by forming new collaborations between technical and oncological research groups. The scope of this Technology for Oncology call, not only focusses on the pure technical developments in the sense of devices and software, but also includes technology in the widest interpretation of the word. This means that chemical and biological technologies, such as cell culture techniques, are also within the scope.

The requested funding for a project is up to € 518,000. For each project, at least 15% of the STW/KWF funding required to conduct the research must be in the form of co-funding (in-kind and/or cash) from the users. For each project a minimal cash contribution from each company is required that must be paid in two instalments (at start and 2 years after the start). The amount of the minimal required cash co-funding depends on the size of the company: € 5,000 for SMEs and € 10,000 for large companies.
