New NWO call Graduate school horticulture and starting materials open (€ 225,000)

NWO has opened a new call within the programme Graduate school horticulture and starting materials. Deadline for applications is July 6, 2017. This programme offers talented MSc students the opportunity to write, in collaboration with knowledge institutions and private parties, their own proposal for a PhD project within the area of the top sector Horticulture & Starting Materials. The budget for this round is € 900,000. Funding is up to € 225,000.

The programme aims to promote innovative, high-quality scientific research within the research field of plant production systems related to the top sector Horticulture & Starting Materials. The fundamental research will lay a broad foundation for direct application and further applied research. Together this will contribute towards resolving societal and economic challenges within the top sector. This programme also aims to train researchers and to promote the exchange of knowledge between knowledge institutes, public institutions and companies.

A consortium, consisting of at least one knowledge institution eligible for NWO grants together with at least one private partner, may apply. One or more public partners may also take part in the consortium.
A researcher with a tenured position at an NWO-eligible knowledge institution acts on behalf of the consortium as the main applicant. The proposed PhD candidate will defend the proposal during the interview and it is his/her performance which will be taken into account in the assessment.
