FOM announces call FLAG-ERA
Together with NWO and ZonMw, the Foundation for Fundamental Research on Matter (FOM) participates in the Flagship ERA-NET to contribute to the construction of the FET Flagships Graphene and Human Brain Project. In January 2017, a call for proposals will be launched to finance projects complementary to the Flagships. FOM participates in this Joint Transnational Call for Graphene Basic Research. Deadline for submitting pre-proposals is March 14, 2017.In January 2013 two Future and Emerging Technology (FET)-Flagships were selected by the European Commission (EC): Graphene and Human Brain Project (HBP). Both projects have a runtime of ten years and a foreseen budget of € 1 billion. Also in 2013, an ERA-NET (FLAG-ERA) was set up to support the Flagships and to coordinate the national efforts with respect to the Flagships. Almost all European countries participate in this programme that will run for three years. A Joint Transnational Call (JTC) was launched in 2015 for projects complementary to the Flagships. FOM and NWO participated for projects complementary to the Graphene Flagship and the Human Brain Project, respectively. This year, the follow-up ERA-NET FLAG-ERA II was presented. Within this ERA-NET a second Joint Transnational Call will be launched for both flagships.
The total budget available from FOM in the FLAG-ERA II Joint Transnational Call for Graphene is € 1 million, for proposals in the Basic Research part of the call. The deadline for full proposals will be in July 2017. More details about the application procedure, the exact timeline and additional criteria from FOM will be announced together with the official opening of the call, on January 12, 2017.
