NWO awards 33 projects with TOP and ECHO grants

The division of Chemical Sciences (CW) of NWO has funded 33 projects with TOP-, ECHO- and ECHO-STIP grants. The total amount awarded is € 11 million. NWO received 31 applications for TOP, of which five projects were funded, for ECHO 129, of which 19 projects receive funding, and for ECHO-STIP 21 applications were submitted and nine projects were funded.

ECHO grants enable researchers to develop creative, risky ideas and to sow the seeds for future research themes. The aim is to bring about scientific innovation. ECHO-STIP grants are intended to strengthen the chemical, biochemical and chemical-technological research in the chemical centers of excellence established by the 'Commissie Breimer'. The ECHO grants and ECHO-STIP grants are up to € 260.000 each.

TOP Grants Chemical Sciences are for excellent, established research groups with a clear chemical, biochemical or chemical-technological reputation. The research group can use the grant to strengthen or renew challenging and innovative lines of research. The TOP grants are up to € 780,000.
