Paraplegia - IRP funding opportunities 2014 (CHF 150,000)

The International Foundation for Research in Paraplegia (IRP) in Switzerland asks for applications for Research Grants, Post-doctoral Fellowships and the Research Prize. The closing date for submission is October 31, 2014. Amounts are up to CHF 150,000. IRP provides funds for basic and clinical research in the field of paraplegia in order to contribute to improving the lives of people affected by injuries to the spinal cord.

Research Grants may address all aspects of CNS and spinal cord lesions, nerve regeneration, trophic support of lesioned neurons, and functional changes induced by lesions, preferentially in mammals. Each proposal retained will be financed for 1 or 2 years, to the value of CHF 75,000 or CHF 150,000 respectively.

Fellowships are provided to young scientists who are either from Switzerland and who want to join an outstanding laboratory or clinic abroad, or from abroad and who wish to work in Switzerland. Fellowships are awarded for a maximum of 2 years. Living allowances are 70,000 CHF/year, while research and travel allowances are up to 9,000 CHF/year.

The Research Prize is awarded to researchers who, by the significance of their scientific contributions and their publications in scientific journals of renown, have furthered understanding of the development, lesion and regeneration processes relating to the spinal cord. The prize is up to 100,000 CHF.
