2017 CEF Energy Work Programme adopted

Up to € 800 million is foreseen to be allocated under the 2017 CEF Energy Work Programme for grants managed by INEA. The 2017 CEF Energy Calls for Proposals will finance projects of common interest in the energy sector, namely in electricity and gas and will be launched in April. An info day will be organised in June.

The projects which can apply to be selected for funding must feature on the European Commission's list of 195 Projects of Common Interest (PCIs). The 2017 call for proposals will finance projects of common interest in the energy sector, helping to achieve the broader energy policy objectives of:

  • increasing competitiveness by promoting the further integration of the internal energy market and the interoperability of electricity and gas networks across borders;
  • enhancing Union security of energy supply;
  • contributing to sustainable development and protection of the environment, inter alia by the integration of energy from renewable sources and by the development of smart energy networks.

The Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) supports the development of high performing, sustainable and efficiently interconnected trans-European networks in the fields of transport, energy and digital services. CEF investments fill the missing links in Europe's energy, transport and digital backbone.
