The EMBO Gold Medal is awarded annually to young scientists for outstanding contributions to the life sciences in Europe. Next deadline for receipt of nominations is February 1, 2015. The medal aims to acknowledge and highlight some of the remarkable achievements of young independent group leaders. The prize comprises a gold medal and a bursary of € 10,000.

Eligible candidates are molecular biologists who are currently working in one of the EMBC Member States and who are under the age of 40 years, or within 10 years of having obtained their PhD or equivalent, on the day of the deadline for nominations (February 1).

EMBO is an organization of more than 1700 leading researchers that promotes excellence in the life sciences. The major goals of the organization are to support talented researchers at all stages of their careers, stimulate the exchange of scientific information, and help build a European research environment where scientists can achieve their best work.
