New NICHE tender for Ethiopia published

Nuffic has published a new NICHE call for subsidy tenders for a project in Ethiopia. The closing date for applications is October 21, 2016. The budget of the call Capacity building for effective Food and Nutrition Training - CaFaNT (NICHE-ETH-179) is € 1,400,000.The project at Hawassa University contributes to increased food security and agricultural growth by improving education, training, research and service provision. This should lead to access to more nutritious food for Ethiopians. At the end of the project, Hawassa University will have the academic and organisational capacity to:

develop, implement and conduct effective gender sensitive educational programmes in nutrition and to conduct applied and contract research;
produce graduates with increased employability through acquiring labour market competencies and skills as nutritionists and scientists. This will allow them to establish their own businesses and to provide effective services to the public;
deliver outreach services to the community and industry in a sustainable and efficient way;
Accredit the Nutrition Laboratory (biochemical corner) and operate it to the satisfaction of clients in such a way that it generates additional income.

The Netherlands Initiative for Capacity development in Higher Education (NICHE) is a Netherlands-funded development cooperation programme aimed at sustainable strengthening of higher education and technical and vocation education and training (TVET) capacity in partner countries, thus contributing to economic development and poverty reduction. The programme focuses on the countries and policy priorities identified in the Dutch bilateral cooperation programme. In line with the current development policy of the Netherlands NICHE focuses on four policy priorities:

Water;
Food security;
Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR);
Security and the rule of Law.
