2014 Registration of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan Award opens in September

The European Commission acknowledges the important role of Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs) in sustainable urban mobility and believes that it is appropriate to reward the efforts of cities and towns in this area. To this end, the annual SUMP Award is the first European award scheme to recognise the efforts of cities and towns in the field of sustainable urban mobility planning. The call for applications for this year’s Award will be published on September 16, 2014. Deadline for applications will be November, 3 2014.

The SUMP Award was launched in 2012. The aim of the award scheme is to encourage the adoption of SUMPs by local authorities across Europe and to reward outstanding achievements in each year’s SUMP thematic priority area. Cities are not required to have completed the entire process of developing and implementing a SUMP in order to be eligible for the award. The 2014 award will focus on monitoring implementation to improve SUMPs.
