Alzheimer's Research UK funding opportunities 2015 ($ 1,000,000)
The Alzheimer's Research UK (ARUK) invites applications for different grant schemes. Deadline for submitting proposals is July 3, 2015. ARUK is the UK's leading dementia research charity specialising in finding preventions, causes, treatments and a cure for dementia. ARUK has a large number of different grant schemes through which researchers can apply for funding. Grants are between £ 20,000 and $ 1,000,000.
Researchers can apply for:
Research Fellowship: intended for junior postdoctoral researchers of demonstrated ability and high potential, either just emerging from PhD training or within a short period of obtaining a PhD. Up to three years and funding covers salary and research and travel costs. These costs are for up to £ 20,000 per annum;
Major Project: provides funds for high quality research projects. This scheme can cover salaries, equipment, animal and running costs. There is one application round each year. Awards are worth a maximum of £ 1 million and last up to five years;
Network Support: designed to act as a bridge to other funding which has already been secured or there is a clear plan to secure, or where there is a clearly-argued need to retain key staff or to complete key pieces of work to a tangible end point. Funding is up to £ 30,000 for one year;
Senior Research Fellowship: designed to retain excellent dementia researchers who have clear potential to become leading Principal Investigators but have not yet attained a tenure/tenure-track position. Up to four years with the possibility of a one year extension. Funding is up to £ 420,000 to cover Fellow salary, support staff and running costs;
Interdisciplinary Research Grant: designed to encourage researchers into dementia research who have expertise and ideas which could benefit the field. Up to £ 250,000 over a period of three years for high quality research projects. This scheme can cover salaries (research, technical, students etc.), equipment, animal costs and running costs (consumables, travel etc.);
Global Clinical Trials Fund: supports clinical trials that have potential to be of benefit to dementia patients. An upper limit of £ 500,000 is set for each application as the total Alzheimer's Research UK contribution. Applicants should be aware that they are competing for limited funds.
